Since completing my BVA in Illustration at Griffith University in 1997 I have had the opportunity to collaborate and work with a wide range of people. I have worked with teams as well as completed projects solo from start to finish.
I started Eggshell Studio in 2007, initially to help people remember me, as my last name is a touch too complicated. I have now been running Eggshell Studio for over 10 years, freelancing for businesses big and small.
I keep my ear to the ground and eyes on the screen to keep up with ever changing technology and trends (seemingly impossible acrobatics). I don’t however jump aboard every fad that pops up, instead I consider and analyse the merits of the red flag before charging on.
I’m not afraid to give it a go. It could be Finnish ‘sisu’ or just good ol’ Aussie stubbornness… or a mix of both. Either way it’s been working out well so far. Strewth!
Price depends on the scope of the project. A fair price for fair work is my motto. I don’t charge for meetings as long as I don’t have excessive travel costs involved, such as a flight to Peking or a yak trek to Tibet. An initial phone/skype meeting is essential to establish if I indeed can be of help. Initial meeting is to outline the scope of work, estimated pricing and the all important deadline. If I can’t help you, I will tell you straight up. I will never take on a project I can’t complete.
For simple amends or quick jobs, hourly rate will be more cost effective. A quick website update or amends to existing brochure art files would belong into this category. My rate is $66 (inc gst) for one hour minimum, day rates are negotiable.
For large scale projects, an agreed value will provide freedom to experiment and find solutions that would otherwise be under pressure from hourly restrictions. A new website build or a branding suite would be better off as a project build. A project would have an agreed end result instead of an hourly limit.
Illustrations are perfect when you want to stand out. Individual style pops your project from the masses of stock image mayhem.
Sometimes the right picture says so much more than words.

If you got this far and are still intrigued by me… maybe go and see a movie, or read a book. Nothing exiting will be revealed henceforth.
My favourite colour is black. Also aqua, just like Leopard Moto3 team. Such divine design, the clean lines and bold colours faint worthy. Could be just because I’m bike crazy. Don’t judge.
My favourite sports is MotoGP. Bit of a conundrum when I’m also passionate about the environment. Once they’ll have electric bikes my shame will decrease.
I’m a pescetarian. Don’t ask me why the fish ended up earning my wrath.
My favourite music is metal. I also like some less metal things but I can’t do top 40 R’n’B. Just no.
I love drawing. My scribbles fill multiple drawers, once a year I cull half. Population control in the drawer world.
Now go and see that movie. Or contact me if you wish to know more.
